PUNARNAVA

Boerhaavia diffusa is a species of flowering plant in the four o’clock family which is commonly known as punarnava, red spiderling, spreading hogweed, or tarvine. It is taken in herbal medicine for pain relief and other uses. The leaves of Boerhaavia diffusa are often used as a green vegetable in many parts of India.

पुनर्नवा या शोथहीन या गदहपूरना एक आयुर्वेदिक औषधीय पौधा है। श्वेत पुनर्नवा का पौधा बहुवर्षायु और प्रसरणशील होता है। क्षुप 2 से 3 मीटर लंबे होते हैं। ये प्रतिवर्ष वर्षा ऋतु में नए निकलते हैं व ग्रीष्म में सूख जाते हैं। इस क्षुप के काण्ड प्रायः गोलाई लिए कड़े, पतले व गोल होते हैं। पर्व संधि पर ये मोटे हो जाते हैं।
